Message Don't forget what I said at the end of my original post in this thread. *Is it completely factual? I don't know* With that, your 1, 2 ,3 strikeout really doesn't apply and if I was wrong about what parts you used then so be it :)

It was just my theory of observation with the pictures and limited info you provided and not having an actual VTC mechanism in my hands to work with.

Anyway, thanks for getting my interest going on this as I love anything to do with understanding the Z car. I started playing around with the VTC sprocket on one of my extra engines and find the VTC functioning interesting.

I took some detailed pictures of how the VTC operates and understand it more. I see how the variable timing is actuated too. After removing the VTC solenoid I thought I could simulate activating the timing advance using air pressure. I tried but just couldn't get a good seal without fabricating something to do that. It would be neat to see.

Yes, I do understand what it was you did to remove the noise. Probably a combination of your and Brett's fixes would be the best fix.

The sprocket from my engine is not an adjustable one and the VTC gears are housed in a hermitically sealed compartment making it impossible to take apart without damaging it. Looking at your cut away view of the VTC sprocket was a big help in understanding it though. Thanks for that.

In all, I don't think pursuing the VTC fix as something you want to do and sell is a worth wild thing to do when just buying or obtaining a new or newer one from multiple available sources that are out there will do the job, cost the same or less and probably be better than a modified one using older parts.

Anyway, good luck with whatever you do.
